Most searched routes
The three routes people ask about most.
Vilanculos to Tofo, Tofo to Maputo and Maputo to Vilanculos are the transfers travellers search for most often, because they link the three places most itineraries pass through. Each is a fixed fare per private car, in either direction.
EKAYA's private transfers are door-to-door journeys across southern and central Mozambique and over the border into South Africa — by car between the airports and the coastal towns, by 4x4 inland to the national parks, across Ressano Garcia to Kruger and Johannesburg, and by speedboat out to the Bazaruto islands — each one a fixed fare, driven by a local driver, and booked in a single WhatsApp message. Pick your route below, or tell us where you're headed.

We still drive it. Send us the two ends of the trip and we'll reply with a price per car.
Ask on WhatsAppStarting or ending in Vilanculos
Transfers from Vilanculos.
Vilanculos is the gateway to the Bazaruto Archipelago and the base for EKAYA. From here we drive to the airport, north to Inhassoro, south to Tofo, inland to Zinave and Gorongosa, and run speedboats out to the island lodges. Every route also runs back the other way.
Starting or ending in Tofo, Barra or Inhambane
Transfers from Tofo and Inhambane.
Tofo and Barra sit on the Inhambane peninsula, 5 hours south of Vilanculos and 7 hours north of Maputo. We meet flights at Inhambane Airport (INH), drive the coast in both directions, and reach the smaller beaches to the north and south.
Starting or ending in Maputo
Transfers from Maputo.
From the capital we drive up the EN1 to the Gaza coast and on to Tofo and Vilanculos, south to Ponta do Ouro, across the Ressano Garcia border to Kruger, Nelspruit, Johannesburg and Pretoria, through Goba into Eswatini, and down the coast through Kosi Bay to Durban. Pickup is anywhere in Maputo or Matola, including the airport.

Staying somewhere that needs a 4x4? You must tell us when you book. Our standard transfer cars aren’t 4x4s — we have 4x4s and will gladly arrange one, but we don’t run the lodges, so we can’t know which access roads need one. Check with your accommodation and let us know.
What you’re actually booking
Door-to-door transport, explained.
Door-to-door transport means one vehicle collects you where you are and drops you where you’re going, with nothing in between — no terminal to find, no connection to make, no changing cars partway. On an EKAYA transfer the driver comes to your hotel, your house, or the arrivals hall, and the next time you get out you’re at your destination.
It’s the difference that matters most on Mozambican routes. The alternative is usually a relay — a chapa to a terminal, a coach, a ferry crossing, another chapa at the far end — which is cheap and perfectly workable, but costs most of a day and every bag you’re carrying has to come with you through each change.
Every fare on this page is per vehicle rather than per seat, agreed on WhatsApp before you travel, and unchanged by where in town we collect you. Fuel and road tolls are included, so the number we agree is the number you pay.
Before you ask
How transfers work.
How do I book a transfer?
Are the prices fixed?
Do transfers run both ways?
What if my route isn't listed?
Who drives, and are the cars private?
How many people and how much luggage can you take?
Can we break the drive and sleep a night on the way?
Is the transfer car a 4x4? My lodge says I need one.
