Maputo to Marloth Park transfers
A Maputo to Marloth Park transfer is a private, door-to-door car journey between the Mozambican capital and the wildlife town on Kruger’s southern edge — your own vehicle and driver for the roughly 120 km run across the Ressano Garcia–Lebombo border, with no changes and no shared seats. Leave Marloth Park after breakfast and you can be in Maputo for lunch.
$220
Request your transfer on WhatsApp- A private car with driver — just your group, from your door to your door
- Collected at your house or lodge in Marloth Park, or anywhere in Maputo
- Both directions, same $220 — Maputo to Marloth Park or back to Maputo
- Fuel and tolls included — the fare we agree is the whole fare, nothing added on the road
Staying somewhere that needs a 4x4? You must tell us when you book. Our standard transfer cars aren’t 4x4s — we have 4x4s and will gladly arrange one, but we don’t run the houses and lodges, so we can’t know which access tracks need one. Check with your host and let us know.
No changes, no timetable
How the Maputo–Marloth Park
transfer works.
Booking the Maputo–Marloth Park transfer takes one WhatsApp message — no terminal, no connections, no changing vehicles at the border. Here’s how it goes.
- 1
You tell us the date and direction
Your travel date, which way you’re going, and where to collect you — a hotel in Maputo, or the name of your house or lodge in Marloth Park. A sentence is enough to start.
- 2
We confirm and quote it
We check availability and send a fixed $220 fare for the whole car — no per-seat maths and no surprises at the border.
- 3
We collect you and drive
Your driver picks you up at the door, crosses at Ressano Garcia–Lebombo, and drops you at the other door — Maputo to Marloth Park, or Marloth Park back to Maputo.
The route
How to get from Maputo to Marloth Park.
The drive from Maputo to Marloth Park is about 120 km: west out of the city on the EN4 to the Ressano Garcia border, through Komatipoort — the first town on the South African side, a few minutes past the border post — and on along the Crocodile River to Marloth Park. Allow two to three hours door to door. Just under two of those are driving; the rest is the border, which is why nobody who has done it quotes you a single tidy number.
It runs the same in reverse. Marloth Park to Maputo is the identical private, door-to-door service for the same $220 — the usual reason being a flight out of Maputo, or the start of the Mozambique half of a trip after a week on Kruger’s doorstep.
Heading for the park gates or an airport instead? We drive Maputo to Kruger’s Crocodile Bridge gate, Kruger Mpumalanga International and Nelspruit too.
The other end of the drive
Why Marloth Park and Maputo pair so well.
Marloth Park is a holiday town inside a wildlife conservancy in Mpumalanga, on the south bank of the Crocodile River directly across from Kruger National Park. There are no fences between the houses and the bush, so zebra, kudu, wildebeest, impala and warthog wander between the stands, and Kruger’s Crocodile Bridge gate is about 20 km down the road.
Marloth Park is also under 40 minutes from the Lebombo border post. That makes it the easiest bush-to-beach hinge in the region: a week of game drives on one side, then a morning’s drive to Maputo and the start of the coast on the other. Going north from Maputo? We run the road all the way up to Tofo and Vilanculos.
The border is the one part of the day worth planning. The Ressano Garcia–Lebombo crossing is not open around the clock for most of the year, extending to 24 hours only over the Easter and mid-December to mid-January peaks — and hours are adjusted from time to time, so confirm them with South Africa’s Border Management Authority close to your date. We set your departure so you reach the post well inside its hours, and your driver handles the vehicle paperwork on both sides.
